History
The Geo Strategies Group was set up by two people – Daniela Florea, a geographer from Sibiu in Transylvania, and Bill Metcalf, an international management consultant, from Cambridge, UK.
The company was established in March 1993 and has grown through innovation, professionalism, and thought leadership.
The first nine years were devoted to mapping and GIS which culminated in the sale of navigable maps IP for 25 countries to Navteq in 2002.
Since 1995 Geo Strategies has been a strategic partner for MapInfo (now Pitney Bowes) promoting the MapInfo suite of software in Romania. Subsequently, this has diversified into comprehensive tools for data integration systems.
In 2002, the company re-focussed on geo-demographic, socio-economic data and data services based on administrative mapping and value-added boundaries. Since 2005, together with Experian, Geo Strategies has developed unique consumer segmentation and spatial analytics tools for targeting in Romania.
Starting in 2010, Geo Strategies has also been offering industry-strength data quality management (DQM) services, including address cleansing, standardisation and geocoding for Romania.
It is widely quoted that 80% of business data has a location component and Geo Strategies aims is to assist companies, NGOs and government itself to unlock the implicit ‘location intelligence’ for commercial and public benefit.
Throughout our history, the company has maintained an uncompromising focus on quality and productivity. The aim has always been to assist customers across industries with relevant digital products and services to full international standards, and as efficiently as possible.
